I am still new to joomla, and I am using the latest version (1.5.14) with xampp 1.7.1 and MySql.
When I finished working on my site, I registered for free web hosting with x10.
Now I am done with my site design and have my domain name, but I have no idea how to get the site online.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’ve worked with Joomla and Flash and both have pros and cons. I’d like feedback from other experienced developers on their preferences and why – also taking into consideration the visitors who will be accessing the site.

Front level web design is usually html / flash and is the eye candy you see.
Back level design is usually programming in PHP / ASP / Java / actionscript / etc etc and is what makes it have more functionality such as a search engine, mail functionality and other useful features.

I am using Response.Redirect(DropDownList1.Selected… The problem I am having is that it is appending this url to the url in my address bar on internet explorer. Is there anyway to maybe clear the address bar so when my new url is selected from the dropdownlist it will redirect to only that site? Basically, my company refers to my job as a “Webmaster.” This job title is outdated in my opinion. I basically was hired to do the following (with the following knowledge):
- Point contact for company web site (updates, changes, additions, new site designs, project manager/lead for all things company web);
- Marketing for e-mail campaigns, web campaigns and webcasts;
- Excellent working knowledge of WC3, CSS, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, PHP;
- Update content via CMS interface (but also manage all templates in this CMS);
- Print advertisement design (posters, postcards, magazine ads, etc. etc.);
- Interactive advertisement design (FLASH, for example);
- Product strategy from a marketing perspective.
It’s a huge mix of web design, web development, advertising, graphic design etc. and I can’t figure out what to call it
