Ok so this is a story and I need help answering the 3 questions that follow. Hope you can help :]
“Toyota’s tough boss”
Hiroshi Okuda is not afraid to speak his mind or impose radical change in an organisation. And because of these traits, he is memorable at Toyota Motor Corporation www.global.toyota.com where he is the chairman of the board. Prior to becoming chairman, Okuda served as Toyota’s president – the first non-family member in over 30 years to head the company. He also is unusual among other Japanese executives because, in Japan, executives are supposed to be unseen. Okuda justifies his outspoken and aggressive style as being necessary to change a company that had become lethargic and bureaucratic.
Okuda moved ahead at Toyota by taking jobs that other employees did not want. For example, in the early 1980s the company was trying to build a manufacturing facility in Taiwan, but the Taiwanese government’s demands for high local content, technology transfer and guaranteed exports convinced many at Toyota that the project should be scrapped. Okuda thought differently. He successfully lobbied for the facility in the company, and it is now very profitable for Toyota. As Okuda noted, ‘Everyone wanted to give up. But I restarted the project and led it to success.’ His drive and ability to overcome obstacles were central to his rise in the company’s hierarchy. When Okuda ascended to the presidency of Toyota in early 1995, the company was losing market share in Japan to both Mitsubishi and Honda. Okuda attributed this problem to several factors. Toyota had been losing touch with Japanese customers for years. For example, when engineers redesigned the Corolla in 1991, they made it too big and too expensive for Japanese tastes. Then, four years later, in an attempt to lower costs significantly, they stripped out so many features in the car that the Corolla looked too cheap. Competitors, on the other hand, had also done a much better job of identifying the boom in recreational vehicles – especially the sport-utility market. Toyota’s burdensome bureaucracy also bothered Okuda. A decision that took only five minutes to filter through at Suzuki Motor Corporation would take upwards of three weeks at Toyota.
In his first 18 months on the job, Okuda implemented some drastic changes. In a country where lifetime employment is consistent with the culture, he replaced nearly one-third of Toyota’s highest-ranking executives. He revamped Toyota’s long-standing promotion system based on seniority, adding performance as a factor. Some outstanding performers moved up several management levels at one time – something unheard of in the history of the company.
Okuda also worked with the company’s vehicle designers to increase the speed at which a vehicle went from concept to market. What once took 27 months was shortened to 18 months. And now the company is making a custom car within five days of receiving an order.
Finally, Okuda is using the visibility of his job to address larger societal issues facing all Japanese businesses. For instance, he accused Japan’s Finance Ministry of trying to destroy the car industry by driving up the yen’s value. And he has been an audible voice in the country, condemning the lax lending practices that forced Japanese banks to write off billions of dollars in bad loans and led, in part, to that country’s economic crisis in the late 1990s and early 2000.
Unfortunately, some of Okuda’s action may have backfired. It has been suggested that the reason he was removed as president of the company in June 1999 was that he had overstepped the boundary at times by his blunt demands for change; and his refusal to bail out other members of the Toyota keiretsu may have offended the founding Toyota family. However, even though he was no longer president, his strategic leadership helped him to be appointed to the chairman’s job.

This is the information i have so far:
You cannot play back DRM-protected media or obtain new licenses
You cannot play back DRM-protected media files by using Windows Media Player 11 or obtain new licenses for content. Additionally, you may receive one of the following error messages:
The licenses for your media files are corrupted. (Error code 0xC00D2754)
Windows Media Player 11 cannot play the file because the associated license is either corrupted or not valid. (Error code 0xC00D11D6)
The license to play the packaged media is invalid
C00D277F – Secure storage protection error. Restore your licenses from a previous backup and try again

Cause
The DRM store on the computer is not valid or is damaged in some way. Potential causes for this problem include the following: • The processor was changed.
• The motherboard was changed.
• A BIOS setting was changed that affected hardware. (For example, you disabled hyperthreading.)
• You moved the hard disk on which music was first downloaded from one computer to another.
• An application, such as the RegClean utility, changed DRM settings in a way that caused corruption.
• You performed a clean installation of the operating system.
This issue occurs because DRM systems, such as Windows Product Activation, maintain an internal hardware ID. This ID is based on the hardware configuration that existed when Windows was installed or when Windows Media Player 11 was installed. If you change the processor or other devices, the hardware ID in the DRM system does not match the new computer configuration. In this case, DRM determines that a user has tried to move protected content to another computer. This behavior can also occur if DRM detects that the DRM-protected storage in the registry has been changed to protect the integrity of the DRM licenses.
Resolution
To reset the DRM store, follow these steps:1. Exit Windows Media Player 11.
2. Find the DRM folder on the hard disk. By default, this folder is %SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM in Microsoft Windows XP.
3. Delete the contents of the folder.
4. Visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indi… (http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indi…
5. Follow the instructions on the Web site to update the security component of Windows Media Player 11. This procedure should enable you to obtain new licenses for media. You should also be able to reset licenses for purchased content so that you can play that content on a computer.
Note You must contact any third-party stores from which you purchased music to reset the licenses for that music. If you have copied CDs to protected Windows Media Audio files, those CDs must be copied again.

I use FrontPage 2003 for most of my sites, simply because I’m more comfortable with it than Dreamweaver. In the past 2-3 years, I’ve created all my sites using FP or DW templates, where you create the ‘dynamic web template’ and then add ‘editable regions’ to all the template-based pages.
The downside is that ALL the pages of your site have to OPEN when you make a change to the template. Then you have to re-save the template, tell it to simultaneously change all the pages, and then ‘Save All’ the pages (which is a pain in the but for large sites).
I haven’t found a free or cheap CMS that’s easy to learn, easy to customize, and works like a forum – allowing you to post new pages online without having to OPEN the site in DW or FP.
I’d like to create sites with editable regions, and be able to post new pages online by logging in through my browser (like a forum). I’d also like to be able to change the template and all pages without having to open them all & save them all.

Hi Yahoo,
I run a small business in the UK and years ago I employed a website developer to set up and maintain a website for it. Long story short, I’m fed up with having to pay him £30 or so every time I want to add a new photo to the site or add new text. I’d rather deal with it myself.
I don’t have the the skills to make a website myself, but I know WCMs are simple enough to use.
So, my question is what WCMS should I go for? Which one is best value, easiest to install, easiest to use etc, etc.
Bear in mind, this is only a small, uncomplicated website we’re talking about. The most complicated thing on it is a little bit of Adobe Flash.

In a previous question, I simply asked what scripting language is best for me as I am extremely naive to anything beyond HTML. I got a couple of good answers, including a recommendation to use a CMS. It definitely looks nice.
Basically, I want to create a very simple (yet comprehensive) database for the New Jersey Devils players. It will be an entirely stat-driven site, it doesn’t even have to look remotely pretty. I just want people to be able to click around and get stats, sort stats, etc. I can do it in HTML, but that’d take me forever and it will be clunky. I want to be able to enter numbers into a database, call it from the webpage, and move on to the next guy.
In the past 12 hours, I’ve really picked up the basics of SQL (web host’s interface makes it real simple) and how to make basic queries from PHP. I can’t believe I am saying this about code, but it is exciting stuff.

Hello all,
I’m aiming to build a website using a CMS, of PHP/MySQL format. I’m familiar with Drupal but I think that could be too complex for it; it seems to me that it will only need a simple CMS.
The aim of the website is to be a simple one explaining what the company does. But a login system is required for clients who wish to obtain particular information from us. So for example, the client might log in, click a request information button, fill in some text fields and tick a selection of check boxes that are relevant. This then needs to be saved in a database and email our company a copy of it.
We need a login system for ourselves to obtain this information via the website, and respond to it by attaching a PDF document or something similar.
The hierachy may end up like a forum, with Admin (being myself), moderator (the employees) and users (the clients).
I must also stress that it needs to look simple and jargon-free for both our clients and employees.

I’ve looked at so many, my brain is spinning. ModX, Expression Engine, Textpattern, Joomla, Drupal… too many to choose from. Basically as many things that are important to me that i can think of right now are listed here: (or a start anyway)
Ability to do it from my mac. I think most are mac compatible, but just in case. (i think dot net nuke isn’t?)
ABILITY TO USE OUR OWN TEMPLATES – I don’t want/ need to choose from any pre-existing templates. We build sites professionally using HTML and CSS — just looking for a CMS that’s easy to implement/use with our own html designs/templates.
MAKES SENSE – Stuff’s easy to organize, makes logical sense on how things are arranged — i don’t want to have to spend a whole month just finding things.
ABILITY TO HAVE SECONDARY PAGES/NAVIGATION — and sometimes even a third “level” of pages. Hierachical levels.
ABILITY TO ADD FUNCTIONALITY (via modules, or whatever) for things like: events, news items, staff members, graphical calendar, site search, members-only part of site (is this possible? user management?), admin control (multiple admins with various admin capability), photo galleries, blogs (?), “store”, .. etc.
Just looking for something that’s worth putting the effort, time, and energy into learning — something that’s customizable enough that it will work for plenty of sites, rather than finding out that it’s missing some core feature that we need for one, or whatever.
I’m pretty proficient in HTML and CSS. Just haven’t gotten a handle on this CMS stuff yet. We currently work with a programmer that does custom php solutions for us for most projects — just to give you an idea of where i’m coming from/what i’m familiar with.
anyway… thoughts anyone? advice? anything i should know? pointers? tips?

Hey guys,
I was turned onto Joomla!, xoops, and Dolphin by friends for Open Source CMS. I was wondering if anyone has used these and had some feedback or maybe actually recommend a whole different CMS? It has to be Open Source though.
So if you used a Open Source Content Management System before, please give your feedback and experience!
Mainly, I just want one that works well in giving group specific access, working along with phpBB3, and very customizable templates. One that could have a Point System and manage Download access to files on site would be awesome too!

Depends on your needs, but if semantic markup, web accessibility and stadards based css layout are anywhere on your list of needs you should take a look at drupal.
